Mission Impossible: Losing Weight Now!

How to Lose Weight Without Losing Your Mind

Sometimes losing weight can seem like an impossible task. This is primarily due to frustrations because of slow results or the seeming lack of results.

To lose weight, you must take small steps and learn to accept the fact that it will not happen overnight. Here is how to succeed at your weight loss goals and look past temporary frustrations. Or how to lose weight without losing your mind.

1. Make a plan

Do you have a plan? Do you know what to eat and when? Do you know when your next workout is? Do you know when your next exercise class is going to be? Do you have an idea of what the daily routine should look like? This is where things like planning and scheduling come into play.

It’s very important to have a plan in place to lose weight. A plan consists of specific actions that, when done consistently and with dedication, can help you reach your goal. If you have a plan, it’s much easier to stay on course especially if you’re not in the mood for exercise or don’t want to take that walk after dinner.

What are some ways of creating a good plan? Write down the things you know are benefits for losing weight – better sleep, more energy, fitting into clothes better, looking good for summer or for an event etc. Then create a list of what things (which don’t work for you) you can eliminate from your daily routine – things like eating late at night, skipping breakfast or not taking time for yourself. Once you’ve figured out what must be done and what mustn’t be done it’s time to put it together as part of a plan that will work for you.

2. Execute your plan

The greatest weight loss plan in the world will do no good if you don’t use it. That’s where so many people fail is that they want to lose the weight but aren’t willing to take any steps to actually meet their goals. It’s like someone saying “I want to make $5,000 this month” but doesn’t have a job and never leaves the couch to look for one.

Here is how to lose weight without losing your mind. Don’t think of it as a diet…think of it as a lifestyle change and commit yourself to making sure your diet includes healthy meals and snacks, exercise, positive mindset, finding support from friends/family and anyone else who will help you in this process.

If your plan is not something you think you can commit to – loosen up your plan to something that is feasible given your lifestyle and situation. Start with small goals, and if you hit them you’ll be more enthusiastic about trying harder the next time.

If you’re hitting a plateau or slowing down, readjust your plan and find ways to make it more realistic for yourself. Remember that even the smallest success is a step in the right direction.

3. See your plan through

Getting started with a weight loss plan is half the battle. Find the plan that fits your lifestyle, needs and wants and stick with it for a minimum of 21 days before you’ll see any real results. Keep your eyes on the ball and on the overall game! With the right mindset and actions, you will achieve your weight loss goals in no time.
